Notices
Notices of Appraised Value For 2010Appraisal Notices are mailed on or about May 5, 2010.Appraisal Notices allow taxpayers to know the value for which the Appraisal District has appraised their property. If the taxpayer disagrees with the appraised value, or denial of an exemption or valuation of their property, they can contact the Appraisal District for an informal review. This is typically a discussion with a district appraiser. Information will include comparable sales, rentals and the discussion of how the district arrived at the value. If you are satisfied with your value then there is nothing more for you to do. However, if you still feel that you have a disagreement with your notice, then you can file a formal protest. To FORMALLY PROTEST the value or any other item, the taxpayer must complete the following Protest Form or notify the Appraisal District in writing within 30 days of the mail date of the notice. Email will not be acceptable at this time. A formal protest allows for a hearing to be scheduled with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The ARB is a panel of citizens that will listen to evidence presented by the taxpayer and the Appraisal District staff. They will then make a ruling based on the evidence.PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE DISTRICT IS CHARGED WITH APPRAISING PROPERTY AT MARKET VALUEIf you file a Formal Protest and wish to withdraw it you may complete a Waiver of Protest Form and return it to the District.
